Decision making<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The impact of economic and political decisions on the environment is\u00a0often neglected. Several reasons explain this :<\/p>\n

  1. Legislation and regulation remains incomplete\u00a0and does not guarantee that the external environmental and social costs generated\u00a0by economic activities are considered as part of\u00a0the decision making process.<\/li>\n
  2. The consequences of environmental deterioration are indirect, they are sometimes scientifically difficult to quantify\u00a0and only apparent\u00a0long after the actual damage occurs.<\/li>\n
  3. The value of environmental benefits is difficult\u00a0to\u00a0quantify given the absence of market pricing, therefore making it complicated to reflect in financial accounting.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n

    Since the first studies\u00a0by the World Bank at the end of the ’90s, ecosys has acquired\u00a0significant\u00a0experience in valuing environmental impacts in monetary terms. From a methodological point of view, our approach\u00a0is to\u00a0develop decision making tools (cost-benefit analysis, multi-criteria analysis) which take into account not only the usual costs and benefits, but also a quantification of the environmental and social aspects\u00a0of any project.<\/p>\n
